How It's Programmed
CenCom Core is fully customized using the intuitive Whelen Command™ software. An upfitter connects a laptop to the unit to program each button for specific functions, create custom light flash patterns, select siren tones, and establish advanced "if-then" logic. For example, you can program it so that putting the vehicle in park automatically activates a right-side alley light and deactivates the rear-facing warning lights.
How It's Installed
Installation is greatly simplified compared to traditional systems. The WeCanX™ CAN-bus network allows all compatible lights and accessories to connect to the main amplifier/control module using just a few small data cables, drastically reducing the thick, heavy wiring harnesses that run through the vehicle. The control head then connects to the main module with a single cable.
Benefits for Police & First Responders
The primary benefits are enhanced safety, operational efficiency, and situational awareness. Officers can keep their hands on the wheel by using inputs like the horn ring or steering wheel buttons to cycle through siren tones or light patterns. The programmable control head provides visual feedback, showing exactly which lights are active, and its logical programming reduces the officer's cognitive load during high-stress calls.
